AI-S Nikkor lenses were born in the late 70´s early 80’s.

Multicoated on all air-to-glass surfaces.

The main advantages for choosing vintage Nikon lens for rehousing are the gorgeous lens characteristics, Nikon lenses perform flawlessly shooting directly towards light. They are sharp, but with less micro contrast than the Leica R lens, for example. Highlights have a beautiful slight glow.

Whitepoint Optics removed all the lens elements from their original optical blocks and cleaned throughout. After cleaning they are assembled into a new optical construction. The iris is replaced with a new full-round one (14 Blades) with a matte black coating for maximum contrast and better bokeh. The outcome is a fully re-engineered product with modern cine mechanics. No part of the lens rotates other than the focus and iris ring, and neither does the length of the lens extend.

The Nikkor 20mm Ai-S T 2.9 It offers an extreme point of view and has a good focal length for extremely open images.

The lens produces pleasing images with reasonable contrast, controls flare well even when shooting in the sun, and reproduces color accurately.
